Terms of Use
Last updated 15 September 2026
Whato is operated by Xion Thrive LLC (“Whato”, “we”, “us”). By using whato.me you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
What Whato does
Whato hosts public listing pages for community groups. We provide the page. We are not a party to any transaction that results from it.
We do not handle payments, hold funds, escrow anything, ship goods, inspect items, or verify the identity of users. Every deal is arranged directly between buyer and seller, on their own terms and at their own risk.
Using a marketplace
- You must be 18 or older to post a listing.
- Posting requires a group PIN from that marketplace’s organiser. Keep it within your group; you are responsible for activity under your seller profile.
- You may list only items you actually own and are legally entitled to sell, and your description and photos must honestly represent them.
- Browsing is open to anyone. No account is needed to look.
What you may not post
- Anything illegal to sell or transfer where you live.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, or their components.
- Drugs, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, tobacco, or vapes.
- Live animals.
- Counterfeit, stolen, or recalled goods.
- Adult or sexually explicit material.
- Personal data about other people, or anyone’s contact details but your own.
- Services, job offers, rentals, or financial products — Whato is for physical goods.
- Anything that infringes someone else’s copyright or trademark.
We can remove any listing and block any seller at any time, without notice, and we don’t have to explain why. Marketplace owners can do the same within their own board.
Your content
Your listings stay yours. By posting, you grant Whato a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the site and in link previews on services like WhatsApp — which is the whole point of posting it. This licence ends when the listing is removed, except for copies already shared into other people’s chats, which we cannot recall.
Listings are public and indexed by search engines. Your seller name, area, and phone number are visible to anyone who opens the page. Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want seen publicly.
Safety
Meeting a stranger to exchange goods for cash carries risk, and it is risk you accept yourself. Meet in a public place, bring someone if you can, inspect before you pay, and walk away from anything that feels wrong. Whato does not screen users and cannot vouch for anybody.
Sponsored placements
Some boards carry paid placements from local businesses. These are always labelled “Sponsored”. A placement is advertising, not a recommendation — we don’t endorse, vet, or guarantee any sponsor’s goods or services, and any dealings you have with them are between you and them.
Marketplace owners
If you run a marketplace you are responsible for who you give the group PIN to and for moderating what appears on your board. Where a commission arrangement on sponsorship revenue is in place, it is agreed separately in writing; commission is calculated on amounts actually collected, and is payable only once collected.
Availability
Whato is provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will be available without interruption, that listings will be preserved, or that the service will continue to exist. We may change or discontinue any part of it at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Xion Thrive LLC is not liable for any loss arising from your use of Whato — including disputes between buyers and sellers, misrepresented or defective goods, non-payment, injury arising from a meeting, or loss of listings or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months, or US $100.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, in which case those parts apply only as far as the law permits.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Xion Thrive LLC against claims arising from your listings, your conduct on the service, or your breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Ohio.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page, and continuing to use Whato after that means you accept them.
